She’s Brilliant, She’s Qualified, I Want to See Her Confirmed, I Want Her Walking Up Those Marble Steps and Starting to Provide Some Justice!
Thus spake Barack Obama, about Sonia Sotomayor, to the Los Angeles elite where he also touted his accomplishments so far. (here’s the video)
…and the justice to be provided by Ms. Sotomayor is Obama’s justice. As Patrick J. Buchanan points out:
When you think about it, Sonia Sotomayor is the perfect pick for the Supreme Court — in Barack Obama’s America.
Like Obama, himself a beneficiary of affirmative action, she thinks “Latina women,” because of their life experience, make better judicial decisions than white men, that discrimination against white men to advance people of color is what America is all about, that appellate courts are “where policy is made” in the United States.
To those who believe the depiction of our first Hispanic justice as an anti-white liberal judicial activist, hearken to her own words.
Speaking at Berkeley in 2001, Sonia told her audience, “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion (as a judge) than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”…. Speaking at Duke in 2005, Sotomayor declared: “(The) court of appeals is where policy is made. I know this is on tape, and I should never say that because we don’t make law I know.” She and the audience joined in the laughter.
Who were they laughing at? Americans who still believe the role of judges is to apply the Constitution as the Framers intended and to interpret the law as written by our elected legislators.
In Barack Obama’s America, that is so yesterday.
Sadly this is no laughing matter. Barack Obama believes the U.S. Constitution is an impediment, an obstacle, to the attainment of his socialist agenda. So bye bye U.S. Constitution and hello another activist judge in our highest court. Sotomayor is a racist political hack destined for a lifetime sinecure, one of nine justices who are sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

Reports of what went on at last evening’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner left me feeling ill. The vile things said about Rush Limbaugh by guest speaker Wanda Sykes show just how evil these people are. President Giggles was having a gay old time, yukking it up when Sykes said;
“Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails,” Sykes said. “So you’re saying, ‘I hope America fails’, you’re, like, ‘I don’t care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq’. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that’s treason He’s not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight.”
Sykes then said, “Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that’s what he needs.”
Pat Buchanan says these remarks were way over the top and damaged the dinner (event). Tony Harnden, U.S. editor for The Telegraph (U.K.) writes today: (excerpts, emphasis added))
Although the Left is reporting her White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech as “taking shots” at Limbaugh and mocking everyone, that’s a gross misrepresentation of what turned into a hateful and disgusting diatribe….I was at the dinner and I began by laughing at Sykes’s gentle teases about the press loving Obama…But the speech took a very ugly turn when she laid into Limbaugh..(see quotes above)..She then concluded: “Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that’s what he needs.” Obama seemed to think this bit was pretty hilarious, grinning and chuckling and turning to share the “joke” with the person sitting on his right….There’s not much room for differing interpretations of what Sykes said. She called Limbaugh a terrorist and a traitor, suggested that he be tortured and wished him dead. What was his crime? Hoping that Obama’s policies – which he views as socialist – will fail. That’s way, way beyond reasoned debate or comedy and Obama’s reaction to it was astonishing. “In a Time of Universal Deceit, Telling the Truth Becomes a Revolutionary Act.”
American Thinker posted a piece today titled A Wind Blows Against the Political Spectrum by Lee Cary. It begins…
Those who plot people and issues along the political spectrum of left, right, and in-between may be late to perceive a new wind blowing from outside their perspective. It blows invisibly, this wind. We can’t see it, only what it occasionally stirs up. It’s gaining velocity across the nation. When it blows hard enough, it will move The Spectrum. (read the rest of the article here)
… Since the early 1900s, Americans have ceded political affairs to full-time “professional politicians,” most of whom are lawyers. These people have convinced most of us that only they can understand the complexities of government and the law – and we’ve bought into that line of B.S.! This is absolutely contrary to what the Founders intended; they expected that gov’t be the least possible, and that the elected representatives (with senators elected/appointed by state legislatures, mind you) be themselves prominent businessmen who maintained their non-political careers when Congress was not in session…. Tax Day Protests Seek to Take America Back from Big Government Leftists.
Out of Control Spending Amounts to Generational Theft. 700 Protest Events Planned for April 15 and Beyond.
A Google Maps four-page list shows more than 500 locations of Tax Day tea parties – so many that the United States is nearly hidden behind a sea of red markers. It boasts more than half a million views. Source
Today’s protests are about massive spending amounting to generational theft, without competent representation; i.e. a Congress that to a man/woman (most Republicans excepted) did not read what they voted for and have passed an unsustainable burden on to future generations . Today’s protests are also about reasserting states’ sovereignty as provided in the 10th amendment to our constitution. Our states are being crushed by unfunded federal mandates and other unwarranted intrusions by a massive Washington bureaucracy under the control of socialist ideologues.

Saturday March 21 saw 300+ people turn out for a Tea Party in Ridgefield Connecticut. This event came on the heels of an initial Connecticut Tea Party in Hartford on Feb 27. Eugene Driscoll at Connecticut Post reports (excerpt)
RIDGEFIELD — They carried signs, chanted slogans, urged motorists to honk horns. There was even a folk singer urging the audience to “take back” the country.
Sounds like your average protest, right?
The difference here: many of the protesters were political conservatives who had never felt it necessary to take to the streets before.
And yet there they were, about 300 strong, lining both sides of Main Street in front of Ballard Park on Saturday for a “Tea Party” protest against President Barack Obama’s $3.5 trillion budget and the government’s effort to “stimulate” the sagging national economy through spending.
“The primary focus is a concern over the direction the policies of the current administration are taking us,” said Andrew “Skip” March, a Ridgefield resident who helped organize the protest, news of which spread like wildfire on the Web…

This on CNN today from the guy who was tapped for Commerce Secretary but declined the offer when he saw what was going on in the Obie administration: (emphasis added)
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Even though he was almost a member of the new Obama administration, New Hampshire Republican Judd Gregg Sunday slammed President Obama’s approach to handling the country’s fiscal outlook.
“The practical implications of this is bankruptcy for the United States,” Gregg said of the Obama’s administration’s recently released budget blueprint. “There’s no other way around it. If we maintain the proposals that are in this budget over the ten-year period that this budget covers, this country will go bankrupt. People will not buy our debt, our dollar will become devalued. It is a very severe situation.”
Gregg, known as one of the keenest fiscal minds on Capitol Hill, also told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King that he thought it was “almost unconscionable” for the White House to continue with its planned course on fiscal matters with unprecedented actual and projected budget deficits in the coming years.
“It is as if you were flying an airplane and the gas light came on and it said ‘you 15 minutes of gas left’ and the pilot said ‘we’re not going to worry about that, we’re going to fly for another two hours.’ Well, the plane crashes and our country will crash and we’ll pass on to our kids a country that’s not affordable.”

Last night on The Tonight Show, President Obama received a standing ovation for the statement: ‘I did not run for President to pass these problems to the next generation. I ran for President to solve these problems for the next generation.”. Let’s revisit this one year from now. Someone on GretaWire should mark his / her calendar and let’s see one year from now if that is just a catchy use of words to get people applauding – or the truth.
The Obama gang’s “generational theft” will extend well beyond the next generation. The survival of our nation as we knew it will be well nigh impossible under such an onerous burden of debt. We don’t need to wait a year to see that his precious patter of pretty words is, “just words“! The perpetual campaign continues.

Herb Dennenberg writing in the Philadelphia Bulletin (March 13, 2009).; it’s a piece titled “Barack Obama: Fraud We Can Believe In“:
The hopes and prayers of the American people have finally been answered with the election of a new president: A fraud they can believe in.
Yes, and even as Barack Obama demonstrates he is a fraud, phony and hypocrite par excellence — who also happens to be in way over his head — the American people still believe in him. Yes, love is grand and his approval rating is still miraculously high. If the truth were known, that approval rating would be sinking lower than the stock market, home prices or the economy.
I doubted he was the Messiah, but now I’m not sure. When a president can be the greatest wealth destroyer in history and still maintain high approval ratings, maybe he does have supernatural powers. What’s more he is god-like. It is said God so loved the poor that he made many of them; Mr. Obama is almost outdoing God by turning so many into poor people.
As I surveyed the disaster that is the Obama administration, I was surprised by how many memorable statements of the past put the present and the president into such clear perspective. I have a weakness for books of quotations and I was re-reading that fascinating book by Robert Byrne titled, The 2,548 Best Things Anybody Ever Said.
In it, I came across the quote that describes our recent American history so perfectly. Will Durst, a comedian, put it perfectly when he said, “Voters want a fraud they can believe in.” (read the rest here)
The fraud continues: Obama’s people have mounted a pledge signing campaign; perhaps this is to counter the rapidly growing We Surround Them USA group. The Obamabots are canvassing neighborhoods, shops and offices asking people to agree saying: I support President Obama’s bold approach for renewing America’s economy and that: I will ask friends, family, and neighbors to pledge their support for this plan. Then they are asked for email address. There are training videos here and here. Here is the Obama plan: (link)
h/t Sweetness and Light
* Energy — Transforming America’s economy to run on clean and renewable energy in order to create new American jobs and industries
* Health care — Comprehensively reforming health
care so that families, businesses, and government are relieved from the
crushing costs that impede economic growth and prosperity
* Education — Reforming and investing in America’s education system so that citizens are prepared to compete in a global economy
“We cannot continue to rely
on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives
that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” (emphasis added) Barack Obama (July 2, 2008)
In the Sweetness and Light piece linked above Steve Gilbert writes:
Anyone who is a student of totalitarian regimes, especially Nazi
Germany, should recognize this tactic. Mr. Obama has organized his own
cadre of Brown Shirts (or, if you prefer, Red Shirts) to agitate for
Mr. Alinsky would be proud. And rightly so. For this is simply the
continuation of Mr. Obama’s perpetual campaign. A campaign, as we noted
at the time, that was modeled on Saul Alinsky’s organizing principles.
Of course, Alinsky, had modeled his methods on the great communist
and/or fascist agitators of the past. Hence, the unsettling resemblance
to Soviet-style and Nazi Germany agit-prop.
What a brave new world Mr. Obama is bringing us.
As for the shirt color I would say green. The Green Czar is latest and perhaps scariest of the Obama appointees. Van Jones is, to quote Michael Savage, “an anti police radical activist from the gutters of the bay area”. Jones has been appointed special adviser to the Obama administration for Green Jobs. The fact that the far left has seized control of environmental issues and causes is reason enough for alarm but now we are to understand that there is a connection between “solar panels and police brutality”!
Not everyone makes the connection between solar panels and police
brutality—but human rights activist Van Jones does. Jones founded the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights
in 1996 to help victims of police brutality navigate the U.S. justice
system. Since then, the organization’s mission has expanded: The center
now works to reduce the San Francisco Bay Area’s prison population and
to ensure that ex-inmates can find jobs that positively impact on the
environment. Along with creating what he calls “green collar jobs,”
Jones has received the Rockefeller Foundation’s Next Generation
Leadership Fellowship and Reebok’s Human Rights Award. He serves on the
boards of Social Venture Network, National Apollo Alliance, Bioneers,
Rainforest Action Network, and Julia Butterfly Hill’s “Circle of Life”
Van Jones says in the interview with Campus Progress:
We said, “We want green jobs, not jails,” which became
our big slogan—four syllables that totally transformed our
organization. All of a sudden we were dealing with everything from
climate stabilization, new technologies, and new business models to
poverty eradication and job training. We didn’t know what we were
In this video Van Jones clearly describes the connection between socialism and environmentalism: “the two big issues we were facing were the envirionmental crisis and also the social crisis”
Although I don’t always agree with Savage I can appreciate his fear that the Green Job Corps could provide the cadre of the Civilian National Security Force described by Obama last year. American Thinker today tends to downplay Savage’s fears saying:
Barack Obama’s recent words to promote his image as Community Organizer in Chief
were not about forming a paramilitary force of volunteer brown shirts.
They were about turning America into one, giant, community organizer’s
sandbox at enormous cost to taxpayers.
