Left’s Viciousness on Display at Correspondents’ DinDin

May 10, 2009

Reports of what went on at last evening’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner left me feeling ill. The vile things said about Rush Limbaugh by guest speaker Wanda Sykes show just how evil these people are. President Giggles was having a gay old time, yukking it up when Sykes said;

“Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails,” Sykes said. “So you’re saying, ‘I hope America fails’, you’re, like, ‘I don’t care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq’. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that’s treason He’s not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight.”

Sykes then said, “Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that’s what he needs.”

Pat Buchanan says these remarks were way over the top and damaged the dinner (event). Tony Harnden, U.S. editor for The Telegraph (U.K.) writes today: (excerpts, emphasis added))

Although the Left is reporting her White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech as “taking shots” at Limbaugh and mocking everyone, that’s a gross misrepresentation of what turned into a hateful and disgusting diatribe….I was at the dinner and I began by laughing at Sykes’s gentle teases about the press loving Obama…But the speech took a very ugly turn when she laid into Limbaugh..(see quotes above)..She then concluded: “Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that’s what he needs.” Obama seemed to think this bit was pretty hilarious, grinning and chuckling and turning to share the “joke” with the person sitting on his right….There’s not much room for differing interpretations of what Sykes said. She called Limbaugh a terrorist and a traitor, suggested that he be tortured and wished him dead. What was his crime? Hoping that Obama’s policies – which he views as socialist – will fail. That’s way, way beyond reasoned debate or comedy and Obama’s reaction to it was astonishing. The Wesleyan Killer Surrenders: A Fantasy World Crumbles

May 8, 2009

By now we are all pretty much familiar with the events of Wednesday and Thursday here in Middletown. I do have some thoughts on the matter which I posted elsewhere but will repeat here. A pathetic loser obtains a gun and shoots a woman with whom he has a long standing grievance. It is not surprising in these post 9/11 days that intelligent, but nevertheless deranged, killers can immobilize entire communities with notebook scribblings about rape and attacks on Jews. It is also not surprising what sort of murders attract the TV and print media. There must be, I don’t know, at a least a dozen or more murders in Middletown each year that don’t rate more than a paragraph or brief mention on the air. By the way, I don’t fault Wesleyan University for their reaction to the perceived threat.

Of course we are relieved that Stephen Morgan has turned himself in to the police. One report says that he saw his photograph in a newspaper at a convenience store in Meriden and requested the clerk call 911. That Morgan shot Wesleyan junior Johanna Justin-Jinich in revenge for some past grievance or slight seems logical.

Morgan had a history of harassment directed at Ms. J-J that the authorities n New York and Connecticut were aware of. They both attended a summer program at New York University in 2007. They both have connections to Colorado where she has family. Morgan drove here, possibly from Colorado, in the last day or two. His car, left at the scene of the shooting bears Colorado tags. Morgan’s family in Massachusetts publicly pleaded that he surrender, and he did. So far, so good.

That Stephen Morgan intended to kill Johanna Justin-Jinich seems clear enough. The five, or in another account, seven bullets were more than enough. He entered the bookstore where Ms.J-J worked wearing a wig as disguise. After the shooting he discarded the wig and the murder weapon, and according to one account used the book lift, or dumbwaiter device, to descend to the basement and thence to the street. There, again according to some accounts, he mingled with the gathering crowd; the speculation is that his escape in his auto was foiled by the almost immediate deployment of police vehicles at the scene blocking his car. Luckily, the Middletown Police SWAT Team was engaged in an exercise nearby and was on the scene in seconds. Amazingly, Morgan was questioned by police along with others at the scene. His contact information was taken and he was free to go. Only hours later did the police realize that he was among the ones questioned earlier at the scene.

In Morgan’s automobile the police say they found a personal journal where he writes that he will rape and kill Ms. J-J There also they say he writes of a desire to bring a killing spree to the Wesleyan campus, with emphasis on targeting Jewish students. One media outlet reports this as a posible “Jewish Columbine”! At this point many questions arise:

If Morgan intended to kill persons other than his intended victim, why did he discard his weapon at the murder scene? No other weapons were found in his car so one must conclude that he most likely had no further plans for a shooting spree on campus. The fact that the police were almost immediately on the scene only spoiled his getaway in his automobile, not any further plot of mayhem.

In all fairness to Wesleyan University, one cannot fault the administration for the drastic lock down measures that were imposed on the campus. They did the right thing. The media frenzy about this event drove that response. There are, this is just a guess, perhaps a dozen or so murders a year in Middletown. Does the crumbling fantasy world of a pathetic loser deserve this sort of attention?

Leo Donofrio: “The Propaganda Ponies of the Fourth Estate”

December 12, 2008

The Connecticut version of the Obama “natural born citizen” cases is before the Supreme Court for conferencing today. The title is, Wrotnowski v. Bysiewicz, docketed here. Cort Wrotnowski is a Greenwich CT attorney store owner (see comment below) and Susan Bysiewicz is Connecticut’s Secretary of the State. Leo Donofrio is the New Jersey attorney whose own case Donofrio v. Wells was declined a hearing before SCOTUS last week. Donofrio has assisted Wrotnowski in strengthening this case.

In his blog, Natural Born Citizen, Donofrio takes the press to task for their failure to recognize what this suit is about: namely, the removal of the ineligible candidates (Obama, McCain, Calero) from the ballot because they fail the “natural born citizen” test and not because of their various places of birth. Donofrio fires off this salvo:

This week has been quite enlightening as to the blatantly obvious fact that our “Fourth Estate” press corps have been transmogrified into propaganda ponies polly wanna crackering whatever may be handed down to them from “The One Corporation – your source for everything…” (cue eery theme tune). They don’t report the news anymore. No. Now they tell you what they want the news to be. There’s a huge difference.

For the record, my law suit was brought to remove three candidates from the ballots – three candidates who have big Constitutional issues as to their eligibility.

At the time of his birth, Obama was a British/Kenyan citizen by descent of his father. Because I pointed out pesky international laws which governed his citizenship due to the fact that a father has every legal right in the world to have the laws of his nation apply to his son, I have been labeled a conspiracy freakoid of nature.

Never mind that I included demands for Panama John McCain and the Nicaraguan born Roger Calero to also be removed from our ballots. No, they don’t want to talk about that do they – because it would blow the “he’s just another Obama hater” mantra clear out of play.

A citizen (me) raised the Constitutional issue of first impression as to the meaning of “natural born Citizen” in Article 2, Section 1, of the United States Constitution – that ultimate pesky legal document for those who would rather “be” the law instead of following it.

What are the Fourth Estate propagandists worried about? Thou doth protest too much. Me thinks so. Why? Because the law is against their man – it indicates Barack Obama is not a natural born Citizen of the United States. And most of the media pundits have basically agreed by default. I say this because when yelling and mocking the issue, their main argument is not that the law is on their side (they know it isn’t), but rather that the law shouldn’t be discussed at all.

The gist of Donofrio’s argument regarding Barack Obama:

Like it or not, rich or poor, great or strong, Democrat or Republican, Obama was born under the jurisdiction of Great Britain via Kenya. There is nothing conspiratorial about saying that. Obama has it posted on his own web site. It’s this very definition which I included in Cort’s Wrotnowski’s brief. Here’s what it says at Obama’s web portal, Fight The Smears:

When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children. (Emphasis added.)

There it is. Obama is telling you his status was “governed” by a foreign jurisdiction. This is no theory. This is a fact.

Readjustment: Seattle to Connecticut + Liberal Follies

October 2, 2008

I am still trying to readjust to life back East after two weeks on the Left Coast. I have concluded that the scenery in the Pacific Northwest is spectacularly beautiful while our Eastern landscapes are subtly beautiful. Contrast the two photos below; first West and then East:

It helps to look at the humorous side of things political. Just out in time for the New Year and a new administration, The Liberals Gone Wild Calendar:

The calendar is already in print; too late for this classic gaffe from Joe (“Smartest Man in the World” Biden:

Being interviewed by Katie Couric on the “CBS Evening News,” Biden said: “When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’”

Either Couric also did not know who was president in 1929, and that TV had not yet been invented, or she chose to ignore Biden’s ignorance. Contrast her treatment of Biden with her badgering of Sarah Palin in Ann Coulter’s account of the interview:

Here is Couric’s full response to Biden’s bizarre outburst about FDR (a) being president and (b) going on TV in 1929:

“Relating to the fears of the average American is one of Biden’s strong suits.”

But when our beauteous Sarah said that John McCain was a better leader on the economy than Barack Obama, Couric relentlessly badgered her for evidence. “Why do you say that?” Couric demanded. “Why are they waiting for John McCain and not Barack Obama? … Can you give us any more examples of his leading the charge for more oversight?”

The beauteous Sarah had cited McCain’s prescient warnings about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. But Couric, the crackerjack journalist who didn’t know FDR wasn’t president in 1929, demanded more examples from Palin.

Treachery 5, Rule of Law 4: Defeat for the Nation….

June 13, 2008

Making law from the bench, five out of control, radical leftist Supreme Court justices* ignored the constitution and precedent to allow overseas detained terrorists, “unlawful enemy combatants”,access to civilian courts here at home. Never before in our history as a nation have prisoners of war been entitled to constitutional protections. Constitutional scholar, and one of our best legal minds, Mark Levin has this to say about the tragic decision:

“….what was once considered inconceivable is now compelled by the Constitution, or so five justices have ruled. I fear for my country. I really do. And AP, among others, reports this story as a defeat for “the Bush administration.” Really? I see it as a defeat for the nation.”

I am publishing the entire Levin piece below; it is deserving of a wide audience.

The Gitmo Defeat [Mark R. Levin]

While I am still reviewing the 5-4 decision written by Anthony Kennedy, apparently giving GITMO detainees access to our civilian courts, at the outset I am left to wonder whether all POWs will now have access to our civilian courts? After all, you would think lawful enemy combatants have a better claim in this regard than unlawful enemy combatants. And if POWs have access to our civilian courts, how do our courts plan to handle the thousands, if not tens of thousands of cases, that will be brought to them in future conflicts?

It has been the objective of the left-wing bar to fight aspects of this war in our courtrooms, where it knew it would have a decent chance at victory. So complete is the Court’s disregard for the Constitution and even its own precedent now that anything is possible. And what was once considered inconceivable is now compelled by the Constitution, or so five justices have ruled. I fear for my country. I really do. And AP, among others, reports this story as a defeat for “the Bush administration.” Really? I see it as a defeat for the nation.

UPDATE: The 5-4 GITMO decision brings to the front, yet again, John McCain’s position on judges versus his own policies. McCain undoubtedly supports the 5-4 decision, yet the justices who voted against it, and argued strenuously against it, are of the kind McCain claims to want on the bench. We have seen the same issue arise respecting campaign finance. This is not to say that McCain won’t nominate originalists to the bench. But if he does, he will be nominating to the Court individuals who are better adherents to the Constitution than he is.

Surge Working, What Say You Now, Bammy?

June 2, 2008

The defeatists and white flag wavers are awfully quiet out there now that Iraqi forces (imagine that!) have pretty much subdued the militias and even taken charge in the port city of Basra. Barack “Bammy” Obama is going to have to scramble now to readjust his anti-war rhetoric t fit the new reality on the ground. The Washington Post editorializes today in an opinion piece titled “The Iraqi Upturn”:

Don’t look now, but the U.S.-backed government and army may be winning the war.

….Iraq passed a turning point last fall when the U.S. counterinsurgency campaign launched in early 2007 produced a dramatic drop in violence and quelled the incipient sectarian war between Sunnis and Shiites. Now, another tipping point may be near, one that sees the Iraqi government and army restoring order in almost all of the country, dispersing both rival militias and the Iranian-trained “special groups” that have used them as cover to wage war against Americans….the rapidly improving conditions should allow U.S. commanders to make some welcome adjustments — and it ought to mandate an already-overdue rethinking by the “this-war-is-lost” caucus in Washington, including Sen. Barack Obama.

Reviewing Scott McClellan….

May 31, 2008

This is an interesting, and humorous, clip montage of Scott McClellan’s press secretary career:

Why I Support Hillary for President….

March 31, 2008

I am supporting Hillary Clinton for president because of her coolness under fire, her exemplary agility in dodging the daily slings and arrows from a hostile press, and her staunch loyalty to a husband who has embarrassed her in so many ways. Senator Clinton is eminently qualified to be Commander-in-Chief of our military. And no, she wasn’t lying; really!***

Peggy Noonan, writing in WSJ online recently, notes that the best commentary on the Bosnia story came from a poster called GI Joe who wrote in to a news blog:

“Actually Mrs. Clinton was too modest. I was there and saw it all. When Mrs. Clinton got off the plane the tarmac came under mortar and machine gun fire. I was blown off my tank and exposed to enemy fire. Mrs. Clinton without regard to her own safety dragged me to safety, jumped on the tank and opened fire, killing 50 of the enemy.” Soon a suicide bomber appeared, but Mrs.
Clinton stopped the guards from opening fire. “She talked to the man in his own language and got him [to] surrender. She found that he had suffered terribly as a result of policies of George Bush. She defused the bomb vest herself.” Then she turned to his wounds. “She stopped my bleeding and saved my life. Chelsea donated the blood.”

Stephen Colbert at National Portrait Gallery….

March 31, 2008

Photo: afagen

Comedic sketch artist Stephen Colbert has drawn tons of attention (a good thing) to the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. His portrait, which has hung there in btween the bathrooms and over the water fountain, will be taken down April Fool’s Day after being on view for 2 1/2 months.

Stephen Colbert, born 1964
Born Washington, D.C.

Stephen Colbert, the mock pundit for the Comedy Central show The Colbert Report recently contacted the National Portrait Gallery hoping to donate this portrait of himself from his show. While this triple portrait is not one that would typically be accessioned into the Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection, NPG agreed to go along with the joke and hang the portrait for a limited time.

In episodes of The Colbert Report that aired on January 10, 14, and 15, 2008, Colbert tries to convince the Smithsonian that he should be considered a national treasure. He attempts to donate his portrait to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, but the museum’s director suggests that perhaps Colbert should speak to the National Portrait Gallery. Finally, after much “discussion,” the director of the National Portrait Gallery finds an appropriate place to hang Colbert’s portrait, in between the bathrooms and above the water fountain.

“We agreed to go along with the joke and hang it for a short time in between the bathrooms,” said museum spokeswoman Bethany Bentley. “Let me tell you two key things here: His portrait is not coming into the collection, and it’s not hanging permanently.”

Alec Baldwin’s Right Thinking on Prostitution….

March 14, 2008

Although I often find much to disagree with when uber liberal Alec Baldwin speaks I find he is right with comments in yesterday’s Huffington Post about prostitution and the Spitzer fiasco:

Prostitution should never be legal. Ever. Selling your body is not the worst thing in the world, but men who pay for sex help complete a battery that is, without question, an emotionally unhealthy one. Every prostitute is someone’s daughter. Spitzer has three of his own.

Baldwin demolishes the Alan Dershowitz nonsense of a day earlier which sought to characterize Eliot Spitzer’s philandering as not worthy of even the back pages of any European newspaper.

Baldwin goes on to point out the importance of careful vetting of a candidate’s running mate; i.e. Lt. Governor or Vice President saying:

Pay close attention to a candidate’s running mate. Scrutinize him as carefully as you do Number One. David Patterson is the Governor of New York now. And most New Yorkers, regardless of age, education or income, don’t even know who he is.

I don’t mean this to be the least bit critical of Governor-to-be David Patterson as I don’t know anything about him. The lesson is clear, however, that the question of presidential running mate is of critical importance in campaign ’08.
