WOW! HuffPo Publishes Gore Debunking….

January 4, 2009

gore-trapped-by-lies

Love that word-“debunking”; the act of discrediting and exposing claims as being false, exaggerated or pretentious. The term debunk originated in 1923, when American novelist William Woodward (1874-1950) used it to mean to “take the bunk out of things.” Anyway, I digress. The news is that The Huffington Post, affectionately known as Puff Host, has actually published a piece anti the climate change alarmism. An essay by Austin TX based writer and musician Harold Ambler thrashing, and trashing, the Goracle’s Global Warming Theories appeared on HuffPo yesterday. Ambler writes: (excerpts)

Mr. Gore has stated, regarding climate change, that “the science is in.” Well, he is absolutely right about that, except for one tiny thing. It is the biggest whopper ever sold to the public in the history of humankind….the expression “climate change” itself is a redundancy, and contains a lie. Climate has always changed, and always will. There has been no stable period of climate during the Holocene, our own climatic era, which began with the end of the last ice age 12,000 years ago….One last thought on the expression “climate change”: It is a retreat from the earlier expression used by alarmists, “man made global warming,” which was more easily debunked. There are people in Mr. Gore’s camp who now use instances of cold temperatures to prove the existence of “climate change,” which is absurd, obscene, even…

Ambler was just getting warmed up. He proceeds to demolish the Algore theory about CO2 and temperature increase with the, by now, well established fact that temperature rise precedes CO2 rise by 800 years. In conclusion Ambler emphasizes what others have noted, that the most important influence on our climate is our Sun, not anything we do. About sunspots and cosmic rays Ambler says:

The number of sunspots for 2008 was the second lowest of any year since 1901. That matters…. because of a process best described by the Danish physicist Henrik Svensmark in his complex, but elegant, work The Chilling Stars. In the book, the modern Galileo, for he is nothing less, establishes that cosmic rays from deep space seed clouds over Earth’s oceans. Regulating the number of cosmic rays reaching Earth’s atmosphere is the solar wind; when it is strong, we get fewer cosmic rays. When it is weak, we get more. As NASA has corroborated, the number of cosmic rays passing through our atmosphere is at the maximum level since measurements have been taken, and show no signs of diminishing. The result: the seeding of what some have taken to calling “Svensmark clouds,” low dense clouds, principally over the oceans, that reflect sunlight back to space before it can have its warming effect on whatever is below…..Svensmark has proven, in the minds of most who have given his work a full hearing, that it is this very process that produced the episodes of cooling (and, inversely, warming) of our own era and past eras.

This is a long read, but a good one; highly recommended.

Gore Myths Debunked

Michael Moore Finds God

August 30, 2008

As if we needed additional proof that the man is a total buffoon, Michael Moore spouts this:

“I was just thinking, this (hurricane) Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven,” “To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River.”

Wow, so it is planned; must have been planned by the Messiah.

This is a cool graphic; I love the fearsome burning eyes!

La Scala Drinks the Goracle Kool Aid….

June 3, 2008

Sad news from La Scala in Milan: (from AP)
MILAN, Italy (AP) – First it was the film and the book. Now the next stop for Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” is opera. La Scala officials say the Italian composer Giorgio Battistelli has been commissioned to produce an opera on the international multiformat hit for the 2011 season at the Milan opera house.
Fortunately the opera won’t appear, if ever, unti 2011. By that time, hopefully, Al Gore’s alarmism will prove to be unwarranted and his crackpot theories will have been exposed for the fraud that they are.

In the meantime we present this modest proposal for La Scala and Signr. Battistelli:

Il mondo Nuovo Secondo il Goracle
(opera in diversi atti nefasto)

Di Londra che brucia! Di Londra che brucia!

In tutta la città, tutta la notte
Tutti con la guida completa fari
Bianco o nero che a sua volta, affrontare la nuova religione
Everybody’s seduta ’round guardare la televisione!

Lbretto:

Il Goracle: (Basso-Baritone)

Soaring Rhetoric Cannot Defeat Terrorism….

May 16, 2008

You know, I’m starting to really like this McCain fellow. Just yesterday I was mocking him as John McGreen because of his pandering to the libs and embrace of the anthropogenic global warming hoax. But today, in an address before the National Rifle Association in Kentucky John McCain stuck it big time to Barack (Zerobama*) Obama. There is no issue more important at this time in our history than the war on terror so I can, for the moment, leave aside my misgivings about McCain’s scurry to the left in search of blessings from Reagan democrats and independents. How thin skinned is this Obama fellow and his media toadies. President Bush, in his speech before the Knesset, spoke of appeasement in the modern period and could have been referring to Neville Chamberlain, Jimmy Carter or, yes, even Barack Obama. No name was singled out yet the outcry from the left and the media was instantaneous; actually laughable in it’s defensiveness. But, back to John McCain:

What John McCain said today in his NRA address will be a defining moment in this election cycle. He particularly noted Obama’s absolute lack of foreign policy credentials, his naive belief that we can sit down and chat with thugs and terrorists and expect them to come around to our point of view. Following is a portion of John McCain’s remarks:

“I have some news for Senator Obama,” McCain began, “Talking, not even with soaring rhetoric, in unconditional meetings with the man who calls Israel a stinking corpse, and arms terrorists who kill Americans will not convince Iran to give up its nuclear program.”

“It is reckless to suggest that unconditional meetings will advance our interests,” McCain said, to a round of applause at the NRA conference. “You know it would be a wonderful thing if we lived in a world where we don’t have enemies. But that’s not the world we live in. And until senator Obama understands that reality, the American people have every reason to doubt whether he has the strength, judgment and determination to keep us safe.” (emphasis added)

John McGreen: The Epitome of Pander

May 14, 2008

This is a banner in the merch section of the John McGreen for President website. As part of his march to the left and embrace of the anthropogenic global warming hoax he is selling eco-friendly (whatever that means) tee shirts, bags etc at exorbitant prices.

On McGreen’s speech yesterday in Oregon, the Wall Street Journal concludes:

Quote:
The compliance bookkeeping for this new “market” is vastly complex, and a McCain Administration would create a public-private “Climate Change Credit Corporation” to oversee it all. This new regulatory body is likely to morph over time into an “Energy Fed,” similar to the one Warner-Lieberman would create. Such an agency would set the price of energy indirectly by fiddling with carbon levies, which will undoubtedly lead to economy-wide distortions.
Given the distance between Mr. McCain’s rhetoric and the policy reality, we wonder if he even knows what he’s proposing. This is of a piece with his approach to many domestic issues, where the policy contradictions and cul-de-sacs overwhelm his professed political convictions. The McCain campaign believes his global-warming plan will appeal to independents and young people, as well as separate the Senator from President Bush.
But he will never be green enough for the climate-change fundamentalists. The Obama campaign and Democrats were already dinging Mr. McCain yesterday for half-measures. His concessions won’t help him much in November, but they will make his governing decisions in 2009 that much more difficult if by some chance he does win.

U.N. Trying to Scare Our Pants Off….Again!

November 28, 2007

Come on U.N.; STOP with the scare tactics. Your politically motivated “junk science” reports are seen for what they are: attempts to blame the United States and other advanced countries for the plight of the poorer nations supposedly threatened by rising global temperatures caused by our activity. This is an extortionate scheme  which would ultimately stifle economic growth in the advanced countries  and  bring about a level field of “equal poverty” for all which is the goal of the socialist tinkerers in the  United Nations bureaucracy. Appended here is an excellent article from FrontPageMag.com:

UN Climate Distractions

By Steven Milloy

The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) just issued the final installment of its year-long scare-the-pants-off-the public assessment of global warming.

It should come as no surprise that, according to the U.N., 257 years of western development and progress has placed the Earth in imminent danger of utter disaster and that the only way to save the planet is to drink the U.N. Kool-Aid and knuckle under to global government-directed energy rationing and economic planning.

Oh, and did I mention that the U.N. says we only have seven years to end the growth of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and 40 years to stop them entirely if we are to avoid killing as many as one-fourth of the planet’s species?

I’d be scared too, if I didn’t know that this is the very same U.N. that just admitted to inflating the African AIDS epidemic — thereby maximizing the public panic feeding its fundraising efforts — and the very same U.N. that presided over the corrupt oil-for-food program which gave Saddam Hussein as much as $20 billion in kickbacks while delivering food unfit for human consumption to hungry Iraqis.

What we need to do is peer through the U.N.’s frantic efforts to distract us with a multitude of dire predictions of climatic Armageddon and focus on the core issue of the global warming debate — only then does it become obvious why the U.N.’s claims call for extreme skepticism.

That key issue, of course, is whether or not manmade CO2 emissions drive global temperature. In its shockingly brief and superficial treatment of this crucial issue, the U.N. states, in relevant part, that, “Most of the observed increase in globally-averaged temperatures, since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations. It is likely that there has been significant anthropogenic warming over the past 50 years averaged over every continent (except Antarctica).”

This glib statement overlooks that fact that from 1940 to 1975 globally-averaged temperature declined (giving rise to a much-hyped scare about a looming ice age) while manmade CO2 emissions increased. Global temperature has fallen since 1998 despite ever-increasing CO2 emissions. So for 27 of the last 50 years, globally-averaged temperatures have declined while CO2 emissions have increased.

If there’s a cause-and-effect relationship between CO2 and temperature in the last 50 years at all, it seems to be slightly in the opposite direction from what the U.N. claims. And if we are experiencing manmade global warming, someone should tell Antarctica to get with the program.

The U.N. also says that, “Atmospheric concentrations of CO2… exceed by far the natural range over the 650,000 years.” Readers, apparently, are supposed to let their imaginations run away with them as to the implications of this statement. What the U.N. left out is that the relationship between CO2 and temperature over the last 650,000 years is precisely opposite of what it has led the public to believe with statements like the preceding one.

Increased atmospheric concentrations of CO2 actually lag global temperature increases anywhere from 800-2,000 years according to the Antarctic ice core record that covers the 650,000-year span of time.

A new temperature reconstruction for the past 2,000 years created by Craig Loehle of the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement indicates that, 1,000 years ago, globally averaged temperature was about 0.3 degrees Celsius warmer than the current temperature. Since that climatic “heat wave” obviously wasn’t caused by coal-fired power plants and SUVs, the current temperature is quite within natural variability, further deflating the UN’s rash conclusion about the warming of the past 50 years.

There’s also the matter of the quality of the temperature records relied on by the U.N.

In his project entitled, “How Not to Measure Temperature,” meteorologist Anthony Watts travels the U.S. inspecting stations at which temperature data are recorded by NASA. In the recently released Part 34 of his series, Watts found that the Klamath Falls, Ore., station was located amid acres of heat-trapping asphalt and exposed to huge amounts of waste heat from electric power conversion. Watts says the location of the temperature station seems to have been chosen for the convenience of the observer rather than the integrity of the temperature reading.

It’s not hard to imagine how the upward bias in temperature readings from this and similarly situated stations around the world has raised serious questions about the validity of official temperature records and, consequently, their use in the global warming debate. So when the U.N. claims to have divined a global warming trend averaging 0.75 degrees Celsius per century regardless of its cause, it’s useful to keep in mind that NASA alarmist James Hansen says that the margin of error around the average global temperature is plus/minus 0.7 degrees Celsius.

So we can’t possibly have all that much confidence in what the U.N. claims to be happening global temperature-wise.

Don’t be distracted by the alarmist arm-waving and sideshows about the North Pole melting, polar bears drowning and the myriad other supposed catastrophes mentioned in the same breath as man-made CO2 emissions and global warming. There’s no evidence that man-made CO2 emissions have created any environmental problem and certainly no scientific justification for handing the keys of the American economy over to the U.N.
