Obama Wants Sotomayor to Provide Some Justice

May 29, 2009

She’s Brilliant, She’s Qualified, I Want to See Her Confirmed, I Want Her Walking Up Those Marble Steps and Starting to Provide Some Justice!

Thus spake Barack Obama, about Sonia Sotomayor, to the Los Angeles elite where he also touted his accomplishments so far. (here’s the video)

…and the justice to be provided by Ms. Sotomayor is Obama’s justice. As Patrick J. Buchanan points out:

When you think about it, Sonia Sotomayor is the perfect pick for the Supreme Court — in Barack Obama’s America.

Like Obama, himself a beneficiary of affirmative action, she thinks “Latina women,” because of their life experience, make better judicial decisions than white men, that discrimination against white men to advance people of color is what America is all about, that appellate courts are “where policy is made” in the United States.

To those who believe the depiction of our first Hispanic justice as an anti-white liberal judicial activist, hearken to her own words.

Speaking at Berkeley in 2001, Sonia told her audience, “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion (as a judge) than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”…. Speaking at Duke in 2005, Sotomayor declared: “(The) court of appeals is where policy is made. I know this is on tape, and I should never say that because we don’t make law I know.” She and the audience joined in the laughter.

Who were they laughing at? Americans who still believe the role of judges is to apply the Constitution as the Framers intended and to interpret the law as written by our elected legislators.

In Barack Obama’s America, that is so yesterday.

Sadly this is no laughing matter. Barack Obama believes the U.S. Constitution is an impediment, an obstacle, to the attainment of his socialist agenda. So bye bye U.S. Constitution and hello another activist judge in our highest court. Sotomayor is a racist political hack destined for a lifetime sinecure, one of nine justices who are sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

Obama Eligibility: A Letter to Rupert Murdock

May 28, 2009

Family Security Matters contributor, Attorney John D. Hemenway , has published an interesting letter to News Corp. chief Rupert Murdock asking that he direct his Fox News people to report on the Barack Obama eligibility controversy. Hemenway writes of a “ massive collapse of the fundamentals of the electoral process (ensuring candidate eligibility)” and places Murdock’s Fox News in the midst of the controversy because of  the news division’s avoidance of the Obama  eligibility issue; saying further that  orders from on high forbade commentators from mentioning it. Hemenway writes:

There are reports that top management of Fox instructed its commentators to stay away from the subject – a strange position for a service that deservedly won a reputation for “fair and balanced” reporting. I cannot believe that you would issue such an order, with your good sense. Was it Roger Ailes or someone else?

The letter is long but well worth reading and you can do so here.

Left’s Viciousness on Display at Correspondents’ DinDin

May 10, 2009

Reports of what went on at last evening’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner left me feeling ill. The vile things said about Rush Limbaugh by guest speaker Wanda Sykes show just how evil these people are. President Giggles was having a gay old time, yukking it up when Sykes said;

“Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails,” Sykes said. “So you’re saying, ‘I hope America fails’, you’re, like, ‘I don’t care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq’. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that’s treason He’s not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight.”

Sykes then said, “Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that’s what he needs.”

Pat Buchanan says these remarks were way over the top and damaged the dinner (event). Tony Harnden, U.S. editor for The Telegraph (U.K.) writes today: (excerpts, emphasis added))

Although the Left is reporting her White House Correspondents’ Dinner speech as “taking shots” at Limbaugh and mocking everyone, that’s a gross misrepresentation of what turned into a hateful and disgusting diatribe….I was at the dinner and I began by laughing at Sykes’s gentle teases about the press loving Obama…But the speech took a very ugly turn when she laid into Limbaugh..(see quotes above)..She then concluded: “Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that’s what he needs.” Obama seemed to think this bit was pretty hilarious, grinning and chuckling and turning to share the “joke” with the person sitting on his right….There’s not much room for differing interpretations of what Sykes said. She called Limbaugh a terrorist and a traitor, suggested that he be tortured and wished him dead. What was his crime? Hoping that Obama’s policies – which he views as socialist – will fail. That’s way, way beyond reasoned debate or comedy and Obama’s reaction to it was astonishing. The Wesleyan Killer Surrenders: A Fantasy World Crumbles

May 8, 2009

By now we are all pretty much familiar with the events of Wednesday and Thursday here in Middletown. I do have some thoughts on the matter which I posted elsewhere but will repeat here. A pathetic loser obtains a gun and shoots a woman with whom he has a long standing grievance. It is not surprising in these post 9/11 days that intelligent, but nevertheless deranged, killers can immobilize entire communities with notebook scribblings about rape and attacks on Jews. It is also not surprising what sort of murders attract the TV and print media. There must be, I don’t know, at a least a dozen or more murders in Middletown each year that don’t rate more than a paragraph or brief mention on the air. By the way, I don’t fault Wesleyan University for their reaction to the perceived threat.

Of course we are relieved that Stephen Morgan has turned himself in to the police. One report says that he saw his photograph in a newspaper at a convenience store in Meriden and requested the clerk call 911. That Morgan shot Wesleyan junior Johanna Justin-Jinich in revenge for some past grievance or slight seems logical.

Morgan had a history of harassment directed at Ms. J-J that the authorities n New York and Connecticut were aware of. They both attended a summer program at New York University in 2007. They both have connections to Colorado where she has family. Morgan drove here, possibly from Colorado, in the last day or two. His car, left at the scene of the shooting bears Colorado tags. Morgan’s family in Massachusetts publicly pleaded that he surrender, and he did. So far, so good.

That Stephen Morgan intended to kill Johanna Justin-Jinich seems clear enough. The five, or in another account, seven bullets were more than enough. He entered the bookstore where Ms.J-J worked wearing a wig as disguise. After the shooting he discarded the wig and the murder weapon, and according to one account used the book lift, or dumbwaiter device, to descend to the basement and thence to the street. There, again according to some accounts, he mingled with the gathering crowd; the speculation is that his escape in his auto was foiled by the almost immediate deployment of police vehicles at the scene blocking his car. Luckily, the Middletown Police SWAT Team was engaged in an exercise nearby and was on the scene in seconds. Amazingly, Morgan was questioned by police along with others at the scene. His contact information was taken and he was free to go. Only hours later did the police realize that he was among the ones questioned earlier at the scene.

In Morgan’s automobile the police say they found a personal journal where he writes that he will rape and kill Ms. J-J There also they say he writes of a desire to bring a killing spree to the Wesleyan campus, with emphasis on targeting Jewish students. One media outlet reports this as a posible “Jewish Columbine”! At this point many questions arise:

If Morgan intended to kill persons other than his intended victim, why did he discard his weapon at the murder scene? No other weapons were found in his car so one must conclude that he most likely had no further plans for a shooting spree on campus. The fact that the police were almost immediately on the scene only spoiled his getaway in his automobile, not any further plot of mayhem.

In all fairness to Wesleyan University, one cannot fault the administration for the drastic lock down measures that were imposed on the campus. They did the right thing. The media frenzy about this event drove that response. There are, this is just a guess, perhaps a dozen or so murders a year in Middletown. Does the crumbling fantasy world of a pathetic loser deserve this sort of attention?

How Blows the Wind? Will the People Awaken in Time?

May 4, 2009

“In a Time of Universal Deceit, Telling the Truth Becomes a Revolutionary Act.”

George Orwell

American Thinker posted a piece today titled A Wind Blows Against the Political Spectrum by Lee Cary. It begins…

Those who plot people and issues along the political spectrum of left, right, and in-between may be late to perceive a new wind blowing from outside their perspective. It blows invisibly, this wind. We can’t see it, only what it occasionally stirs up. It’s gaining velocity across the nation. When it blows hard enough, it will move The Spectrum. (read the rest of the article here)

A most interesting and perceptive comment was contributed to the post by reader Stu in SanDiego. I am printing his letter in full below. There are some other excellent comments to this article so I suggest a full reading there.

… Since the early 1900s, Americans have ceded political affairs to full-time “professional politicians,” most of whom are lawyers. These people have convinced most of us that only they can understand the complexities of government and the law – and we’ve bought into that line of B.S.! This is absolutely contrary to what the Founders intended; they expected that gov’t be the least possible, and that the elected representatives (with senators elected/appointed by state legislatures, mind you) be themselves prominent businessmen who maintained their non-political careers when Congress was not in session….
