In this video Colin Powell attempts to defend against the charges that Obama’s economic proposals amount to socialism. His lame assertions that taxes are needed for the nation’s infrastructure are not defenses against “spreading the wealth” beliefs. Hardly anyone questions the need for taxes to provide for necessary government functions. It is the social engineering via redistribution; the taking from one group and giving it to another that is de facto socialism. Is the progressive income tax scheme socialist; yes it is. Until we get a Fair Tax, or some other variety of flat tax, we will continue on our way to full blown socialism and our eventual decline to global has-been status. Oh yes; Powell said he is still a Republican; amazing!
